Post, Zeitungswesen und Reisekunst bis in die Zeit Mozarts 

Das Projekt "Mozart. Post. Reisen." befaßt sich in drei Teilen mit den infrastrukturellen, technischen, organisatorischen und ideellen Voraussetzungen der Mozart'schen Reisetätigkeit:

1. "Post und Verkehr" beschreibt die Entwicklung des Postsystems, ihrer Verkehrsrouten und ihrer Beförderungsmittel, welche die europaweite Reisetätigkeit der Mozarts erst ermöglichten - selbst dann, wenn sie nicht den Postwagen, sondern die eigene Kutsche (erstmals ab 1762/63) benützten. Ein funktionierendes Postwesen bot auch die Voraussetzung für die rege Korrespondenztätigkeit der Familie Mozart, die bis heute das biographisch aufschlußreichste schriftliche Quellenmaterial bietet.

2. "Post und Medien" zeigt die Herausbildung der modernen Zeitung in engem Zusammenhang mit dem sich entwickelnden Postwesen. Erstere beruht ja auf der verläßlichen Nachrichtenverbreitung und geregelten Distribution, wie sie die Post gewährleistete. Die Zeitung spielte im aufgeklärten, politisch interessierten und professionellen Leben der Mozarts eine wichtige, zumeist unterschätzte Rolle. Einen Schwerpunkt dieses zweiten Teils bildet die Entstehung des osteuropäischen Zeitungswesens.

3. "Die Kunst des Reisens" befaßt sich mit der Geschichte des Reisens, der Reiseliteratur und der Reisepädagogik - von der adeligen "Grand Tour" bis zur aufgeklärten bürgerlichen Bildungsreise. Unter anderem beinhaltet dieser Teil die Geschichte der "Ars apodemica", also der umfangreichen und detaillierten Anleitungen zur Reisekunst, wie sie auch Leopold Mozart, der erfahrene Reiseorganisator und Pädagoge, benützte. Weiters wird aufgezeigt, inwiefern Leopolds Bemühungen, mit den ausgedehnten Fahrten nicht nur die musikalische Karriere seines Sohnes zu fördern, sondern sie auch für weltoffene Bildung und wissenschaftliche Unterrichtung seiner Kinder zu nutzen, dem Geist seiner Epoche entsprach. Weitere Forschungsvorhaben zum Thema "Kunst des Reisens" sind die Untersuchung der ersten Reise Mozarts nach Wien und Preßburg (1762) sowie die Geschichte des von Leopold Mozart in Preßburg erworbenen eigenen Wagens, der die Familie auf ihrer ersten großen Europa-Tournee (1763-1766) begleitet hat.

Die Arbeit abschließend, folgt eine Dokumentation über St. Gilgen, dem Herkunftsort von Anna Maria Mozart, geb. Pertl, der Mutter und Reisegefährtin Mozarts, sowie späteren Wohnort von Mozarts Schwester Anna Maria ("Nannerl"). Unter anderem werden darin beispielhaft regionale Postwege und Beförderungsmöglichkeiten von Briefen und Personen im Mozart'schen Umfeld und Familienkreis aufgezeigt.

 

Zu allen genannten Themen wird eine ausführliche chronologische Bibliographie erstellt.
