Der 30-jährige ABC-Schütz begeisterte in seinen Versionen rund hundertfünfzig Jahre lang das Publikum. Im Projekt zu diesem Stück wird die Geschichte des Textes untersucht und das Werk - sowohl mit Blick auf den Text als auch auf die vielen Aufführungen - aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven interpretiert. Ziel ist eine Edition sämtlicher Versionen des Stückes, die auch die bekannten Partituren berücksichtigt, kombiniert mit einer Sammlung von Artikeln zu philologischen, soziologischen, motivischen und rezeptionsgeschichtlichen Aspekten, um so einen facettenreichen Einblick in die Arbeit der Theaterautoren sowie die Veränderungen des Umgangs mit dem vorliegenden Stoff im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert zu geben.

 

Dieses Projekt flankiert die Arbeit an der Edition der Ariensammlung. Da der Umgang mit den Arien anhand dieses Stückes gut nachvollziehbar ist, scheint eine Aufarbeitung sämtlicher erhaltener Versionen des 30-jährigen ABC-Schütz sowie jener Textzeugen, die ausschließlich Arien enthalten, interessant. Zu letzteren zählen die Wiener und die Weimarer Handschrift der Ariensammlung sowie zwei Arienheftchen, wobei in einem davon die von Wenzel Müller (1767-1835) vertonten Arien Henslers gedruckt sind. Die zu erwartenden neuen Erkenntnisse betreffen sowohl die Arbeit der Autoren an der Struktur der Stücke ohne die einzelnen Arien, als auch die Freiheit, in Text und Umfang der Arien nach Belieben einzugreifen und einem Stück neue Arien hinzuzufügen.
